A MAJOR York street has reopened early after being closed for roadworks.
Gillygate was closed five weeks ago to allow Northern Gas Networks to complete improvements to the gas mains.
The closure caused delays for motorists, who were diverted down Burton Stone Lane.
It was due to reopen on Thursday, but the road was resurfaced over the weekend and reopened yesterday at 4pm.
