Children in Skelton area have got one of the “greenest” play areas around after receiving an environmental grant from Northern Gas Networks.
The Skelton Big Green Playground Group works in partnership with the Skelton Parish Council and Yorkshire Housing Association to create a recreational area which is both fun and sustainable.
The group beat off competition from across the region to win a £5,000 grant from Northern Gas Networks, the region’s gas pipeline company. The money will be put to good use transforming part of the playground into an educational wildlife area with native trees, bushes and flowers and nesting habitats for birds, bats and other fauna.
