COLLECTION days for blue recycling bins in East Yorkshire are to change in a bid to save money.
Calendars for the new dates will be arriving on doormats during the week beginning May 10.
The change means that the bins will no longer be emptied only on Fridays, but also on other days of the week. In addition, from June, the council will offer residents the option of increasing the size of their blue bin from the current 140 litres to a 240-litre bin.
John Skidmore, head of street scene services for East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “We know from residents that many would welcome the option of having a larger blue bin to be able to increase the amount they can recycle.
“We are projecting that up to 24,000 households will choose to take advantage of the option to swap their smaller bin for the larger one.”
