POLICE are appealing for witnesses after an assault which left a man with a broken jaw and severe facial injuries.

North Yorkshire officers said the 34-year-old victim was treated at York Hospital for multiple injuries following the “vicious” assault by a group of men.

Three local men, aged 18, 21 and 23, have been arrested following the attack and have since been released on police bail while inquiries continue.

Another man was also injured in the attack as he tried to help the victim who was being assaulted.

The second man was knocked to the floor but he did not require hospital treatment.
