Selby is growing - thousands of new houses are being built, the by-pass has eased town centre traffic, a range of different shops is opening up.
But what will all the new people in the new houses do for local entertainment? Isn't it time that one of the established cinema chains or even an entrepreneurial individual, seized the opportunity to open (or, more accurately, reopen) a cinema here?
Perhaps one of the developers benefiting from the building land opened up by the by-pass might be persuaded to pursue the possibilities?
John Grogan did his best and even our District Council managed to bring film shows to the Town Hall.
But when residents of other small towns like Malton, Pickering and Thirsk can see a film without a 20-odd mile at least car trip, isn't it time the Selby cinema scenario was visited again?
