Now back at work, and Christmas an almost distant memory, there are still 3 fun-packed exciting Panto days left!
Myself and a group of other mothers have spent almost all of our Christmas break chaperoning, dressing and looking after two groups of wonderful young performers at the Opera House - York production of Snow White. We have had a fabulous (and exhausting) time with the young people and members of the cast. The cast are some of the nicest people you could wish to meet, and these young people have had the experience of a life time.
The children have worked hard, a full two weeks of rehearsals before the show started, showing commitment and enthusiasm throughout the whole run. Each day they turn up on time, arrange their costumes, make up and prepare themselves for two performances, we've had all the usual bugs, coughs and sneezes and even chicken pox, but they have all shown us what professionals they are.
I felt that I had to write and say that it has been a pleasure working with these children, I have heard wonderful things said about this Pantomime (maybe we should leave the reviews to the public in future!) one little girl was overheard to say "it was like being in fairy land.. and that it now felt like Christmas" one lady sent a lovely card to the cast saying "that she didn't give her family presents she gave them experiences.. and that this show was an experience that they would remember for a long time".
So if you have the opportunity - make some time and go and see this show and keep that "feelgood" Christmas feeling going just that little bit longer!
I am sure that the other Mums will agree with me - it was worth giving up our Christmas holidays to be able to share this experience with our children, meanwhile on behalf of all the children - a big thank you to all the chaperones (you know who you are!) and particular thanks to Judith and Lynn who have to organise all of the Chaperones and the children to ensure that we always have a full team.
