The Barbican, if I recall correctly, was constructed with taxpayers money.
Surely there is no such thing as council property or land.
These places are the property of the taxpayers of the City of York and its surrounding area.
For any council just to sell off our land and buildings for a great deal
less than the value then use that money for a number of other projects is
totally wrong.
The money from the Barbican should be used to replace those facilities of which the people of that particular area of the city have now been deprived and these facilities should be in a similar location.
Who's ever heard of prime land and property in York decreasing in value. If the buyers, made a lower offer, the council members should not have accepted it.
That sort of land and buildings INCREASE in value, not the other way round!
