M WARTERS complains about bus pollution (We shouldn't be wasting money on the ftr bus fiasco, Readers' Letters, May 24).
Older buses used to be fairly bad, but newer buses have Euro 3 or 4 engines and are very clean.
The Streetcar is powered by a low-emission Volvo D7C engine. Like most recent First Group vehicles, it is equipped with a CRT filter to further reduce the already low exhaust emissions.
These vehicles are big and will take some getting used too, especially by cyclists, who may need to take a bit of extra care.
However, people en route should welcome the cleaner emissions and, in a little while, lower congestion.
