Sir Ben Gill, the former president of the National Farmers' Union is selling his North Yorkshire farm and homestead for more than £2 million and moving to Herefordshire.
Hawkhills Estate, near Easingwold, has been in Mr Gill's family for two generations. It consists of a large, late Victorian farmhouse, plus cottage, outbuildings and about 260 acres of arable land, and on Monday agents Carter Jonas will put the estate on the market complete, or in five separate lots.
The south facing farmhouse and the detached cottage are each being sold for at least £700,000, while 73.31 acres of mostly agricultural land are being sold in three separate parcels totalling at least £670,000.
John Cockcroft, of Carter Jonas in York, said: "The farm is very productive. The reason he is selling is that his sons have no interest in farming and his wife comes from Herefordshire."
