Reference Ken Holmes's letter (French delicacy, June 1), yes, I do have a love affair with France, it came about after a love affair with a French lady.
We later married and shared our time between the two countries. I have tasted all the delicacies he lists and cannot recommend one.
Frogs' legs are hard eating with little reward; snails are passable with a tasty sauce; while horse flesh is tough as old boots. I was minded of Chaplin in the film, The Gold Rush.
But foie gras, there's a dish to die for, a lot of geese did! With French bread it's a meal fit for a king, or John Prescott.
