RECENTLY my wife had to take her mother to York District Hospital day ward to receive treatment.

Going for any treatment at the hospital whatever age can be a very worrying experience. We had been informed by letter that the procedure would take between two to four hours. My wife paid £5.20 for four hours. She stayed three hours, ten minutes.

As I understand it, a private company runs the car park on behalf of the hospital. So come on York District Hospital, don't shirk all responsibility for the hundreds of vulnerable people attending appointments and using the hospital car park every day.

Let's have a fair and compassionate charging policy and not treat every car that enters your car park as a money cow.
