THE third instalment of the remix series which pairs pioneering DJs with some epoch-making jazz musicians promises to be just as successful as its two brothers.
The choice of the Postal Service remix of Nina Simone's Little Girl Blue as the opener is inspired, and an astonishingly contemporary version of Sarah Vaughan's classic Fever is a highlight of this 13-track record.
While it is difficult to compare with the brilliance of the originals, artists such as Billie Holiday and Dinah Washington are given fresh meaning for a new generation. Adam Freeland and The Album Leaf are among the modern-day music makers who have raided the Verve vault and paired the best of old and new in a stunning series. An essential record.
