THE echoes of Roman legions will once more echo round a York attraction as one of the city's most famous ghost stories is retold.
The Ghosts Of Treasurer's House will be one of the centrepieces of an evening event during the York Roman Festival.
Harry Martindale's famous encounter with the soldiers of the Ninth Legion, more than 50 years ago, will be replayed in the Treasurer's House haunted cellar on Friday, August 5.
Those brave enough to turn out for the event will be rewarded with a feast fit for a weary soldier as Centurion Ale and Roman cuisine will be laid on.
Tickets for the event, which begins with a Roman tour of the city from the soldiers of Legio IX, cost £10 and can be booked by phoning 01904 628343.
The York Roman Festival runs from Monday, August 1, until Sunday, August 7. For more information, log on to www.yorkromanfestival.com
