I MUST publicly thank the three teachers who led the science trip to London ("Pupils In Scare", July 8).

Our son, Matthew, who is a pupil at Fulford School, was on that trip and naturally we were very anxious when we heard the terrible news about the bombs.

It was made worse by the fact we could not contact him that morning on his mobile. We later found out this was because the network crashed.

Matthew told us how in all the chaos the teachers had led them zig-zagging across London by foot using only the side streets to keep the pupils away from any further potential problems.

Some of the children were naturally very frightened and the teacher by the sound of it did an amazing job.

Also I would like to thank the head of science at Fulford School, Mr Baker, who regularly contacted us over the two days to keep us updated on what was happening. This was a real comfort.
