LAST season's Evening Press York City Player of the Year Dave Merris has signed a new contract.
Merris, 24, becomes the fifth of six players offered new professional deals in April to commit their future to the club. Goalkeeper David Stockdale has yet to put pen to paper and is currently sidelined by a broken bone in his foot.
City boss Billy McEwan welcomed Merris' decision, saying: "He's a 100 per cent player and you know what you are getting out of him. He's got a great attitude and he wants to improve as a player.
"He's a big favourite with supporters because of his never-say-die approach and commitment to the club."
