RE Mr Dent's letter about the rules on re-homing animals at the RSPCA (July 1), I fully agree with what he says. After losing a much-loved pet I decided on another one and visited on an open day.
In the last block of kennels I lost my heart to a sad-looking bundle of 'dog hood'. I went to register my choice and arrange a home visit.
A few days later this took place and soon afterwards, I had the phone call that this little lad was gong to be mine. This tale had a happy ending - happy owner, happy lovable pet. I know I was lucky but the wait was well worth it.
So please if you're going to adopt a pet, be prepared to wait and trust the hardworking staff who know the animals in their care, temperament etc. They only want to find the right match for animal and new owner.
