THROUGH lack of foresight (and no doubt money) we have now been left with a badly designed outer ring road which will only get worse.
Why it was not built as a dual carriageway like the A64 (with flyovers and underpasses) that serves the south of the city beggars belief.
Both the A59 and A19 feed into the A1237, as well as the A64, which causes tremendous problems, whereby traffic is only wishing to bypass the city while both the Clifton Moor and Monks Cross developments add further congestion.
The proposed Park & Ride at the junction of the A59, a total red herring, will add further problems. The A1237 fails in that too many roads feed into it causing gridlock at peak times.
On top of that, traffic is looking for alternative routes to avoid the congestion and both the Poppletons suffer through drivers wishing to avoid the A59 roundabout.
I await with interest to see what the council has up its sleeve to help solve the problem. I may be in for a very long wait!
