IN the July edition of Your City, the city fathers proudly announce their intention to paint the railings on Clifton Bridge.
But a much stronger message is given out by way of the accompanying photograph of the bridge which accompanied the report. That is, that the council give its approval and blessing to cyclists who have, it would seem, priority on the footpaths of this city.
Would the council now please advise us just exactly what is the position of pedestrians on footpaths?
Where can we safely walk?
Cyclists ride on two wheels and should be on roads. Pedestrians have two feet and should be on footpaths. It seems a simple fact to me that the two do not mix.
One day there will be a fatality. Just how many pedestrians have been already injured? Does anyone know, or even care?
Mrs M Morton,
Acomb Road,
York.
