LEEDS United are set to complete the signing of Steve Stone, who has been released by Portsmouth.
The 33-year-old former Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa right winger is poised to replace Aaron Lennon who has left for Tottenham.
United are hopeful that goalkeeper Neil Sullivan will be fit for the start of the season.
Sullivan, who won the club's Player of the Year award in his first season at Elland Road, underwent a shoulder operation in May and yesterday visited a specialist before returning to the Thorp Arch training complex today.
With Ian Bennett signing from Birmingham to provide strong competition in the goalkeeping department, Sullivan will be keen to start the season in the team and manager Kevin Blackwell said: "We are doing everything we can to get 'Sully' fit for the start of the season. I want him and Ian Bennett fit, but if 'Sully' can't start the season we have a quality goalkeeper in Ian."
Leeds were today drawn at home to Oldham in the Carling Cup first round.
