I FIND it incredible that we can put men on the moon, send a message to the other side of the world in an instant and talk into phones the size of postage stamps yet cannot provide windows that open or an air conditioning unit on a train ('People power' June 24).
A train breaking down should not be responsible for nearly "cooking" its passengers.
GNER is getting lots of stick because of this. Most train operators will be seriously looking at their own carriages because they also have windows that don't open and inadequate air conditioning.
It was only a matter of time before something like this hit the headlines. I speak from experience on the Trans Pennine services.
Maybe now the millions made from train fares could be ploughed back into better conditions for the people who make the train companies their millions.
