YORKSHIRE Phoenix are looking to bring an end to Derbyshire Scorpions's 100 per cent winning record when the sides meet this evening in the Twenty20 Cup competition at Headingley.

Although Derbyshire are stuck at the bottom of the Second Division in the Championship and are struggling in the totesport League, they have managed to hit upon the right formula in the Twenty20 and have already beaten Durham and title-holders, Leicestershire.

Even so, Yorkshire are buoyed up after their victory over Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge on Sunday and they will be trying hard to make amends in front of the home fans for their poor performance against Lancashire at Headingley last week when they went down by five wickets.

Yorkshire go into the match fielding the same side that has played in the first two games, but some players have yet to make their mark.

England fast bowler Matthew Hoggard travelled for a record 65 runs against Lancashire and although he tightened up at Trent Bridge he failed to claim a wicket.

If Yorkshire do beat Derbyshire, it will boost their chances of qualifying for the quarter-finals, but they will not want to slip up against Durham at Headingley on Thursday or Lancashire at Old Trafford the following day, the Roses match already being sold out.

Clifton Park, York, was today hosting a one-day game between Yorkshire Seconds and Lancashire.

Yorkshire (v Derbyshire): Harvey, Lumb, Jaques, McGrath, Wood, White, Pyrah, Dawood, Bresnan, Dawson, Hoggard.

MICHAEL Vaughan was hoping to end a frustrating spell on the sidelines by returning for tonight's day-night international against Australia.

The England captain, who has missed the last two matches of the NatWest Series with a groin strain, had to watch as his side slipped to defeat against Australia at Chester-le-Street and then delivered a sub-standard display in overcoming Bangladesh at Headingley.
