CYCLES of all shapes and sizes were ridden through the streets of York for the city's annual cycle rally.
More than 15,000 enthusiasts flocked to York for the 61st York Cycle Show to enjoy a weekend of pedal-powered fun.
As well as the usual races, rides and presentations, this year's event included several special attractions.
The rally was hosting a conference of pedal-powered emergency services, included a presentation by cycling police officers, paramedics and coastguards.
After the cyclists' annual service in Central Methodist Church, St Saviourgate, yesterday, the Lord Mayor of York, Coun Janet Greenwood reviewed a parade of more than 1,000 cyclists.
Cycle patrol officers from North Yorkshire Police escorted the parade back to York racecourse, where thousands of cyclists had camped for the weekend.
Other activities included a paddle-bag sale of cycling merchandise, a display of historic bikes, and skills workshops.
The Rickshaw Freedom Riders also appeared part way through their journey from Southampton to Edinburgh, ahead of next month's G8 summit in Gleneagles.
