I SEE we have another MP interfering in country matters from a position of complete ignorance.

I refer to Phil Willis's rant about snares causing animals pain and suffering (June 22).

How does he know?

Was he a rabbit or fox in a former life, or perhaps he is a professor of biology and hasn't told anybody?

Has he thought how any law is going to be policed? Snares are the easiest traps to make.

So, is he going to control brass wire? Are we going to have to sign a book at B&Q whenever we want to hang a picture?

How will the police be able to say who set the trap if they find one?

The problem is that he is not the only one. We also have Anne McIntosh, MP for the Vale of York, determined to ban a certain type of harmless gun.

But she isn't quite sure which one it is.

Our MP, Hugh Bayley, was overjoyed that we now have to be 18 before we can buy a knife, or bladed instrument, in a shop.

Doesn't he know there are drawers full of knives in every household? He must know half the stabbers in the UK use these domestic knives.

Now I suppose he will want there to be a "Licensed Keeper of the Knives" in every household. Please MPs, give us a rest from this madness.

Jeremy D Fox,

Malton Avenue,

York.
