WE thank Peter Evely and City of York Council for their part in promoting and running the Royal Ascot meeting in York.

We appreciate the traffic system did not suit everyone. However, having played a small part in designing it we appreciate how difficult it was to implement a system which would be agreeable most interested parties.

The fact that the traffic system was a great success is testament to all the hard work Peter and his team put in over many months.

Ascot overall was, without doubt, an outstanding success for the city of York.

We received many comments during the course of the meeting on how well it was run and how good the facilities were in York and at the course and how well the traffic system worked.

But, for us, the most pleasing responses were those who said "what a beautiful city York is and everyone is so friendly".

This is a true reflection of York and its residents and something of which we should all be proud.
