I READ in disbelief Mike Laycock's report that City of York Council has accepted the licensing notices posted at the Barbican Centre, even though they were fundamentally inaccurate (June 15).
They were wrong on three counts:
They did not display the times for the proposed licence, which is against guidelines
They clearly stated the wrong date for making objections, i.e June instead of May 27, which might easily have caused objection letters to arrive too late
They gave the wrong address for the Barbican Centre, i.e. Barbican Road instead of Paragon Street.
How much wrong information must a licensing application contain before this council deems it to be invalid?
The fact that the council has decided the notices are acceptable seems to follow a trend of it bending any rule to secure the Barbican redevelopment.
