WHAT a relief to hear we citizens of York are to get a "state-of-the-art indoor sports and fitness centres, and a premier division entertainment complex at the Barbican" (June 21).
Does this mean, Coun Galloway, we shall have more than the eight badminton courts, a sports hall that could cope with more than 90 keep- fitters, volleyball courts, short tennis courts and a climbing wall we had at the old Barbican?
If so, the plans we have seen will need changing because we do not recall glimpsing any of these. But then, we are simple citizens who cannot appreciate just what is being provided for us or, perhaps more importantly, what is being taken away from us.
