FROM start to finish our day at Royal Ascot York on Tuesday, June 14, was superb. The planners deserve a huge pat on the back.
The next one must go to those who showed customer caring skills, in particular the efficient car park stewards, security, mobile catering and indoor catering, bar, tote , litter pickers and cleaning staffs.
Together with the attendance of the royals and anyone who is anyone in racing, everyone played their part in making our and everyone else's visit unforgettable. The atmosphere was brilliant and unsettled weather couldn't dampen anyone's spirits. To all the southerners and local people who stayed away I say, you missed a fantastic day out that probably will never be repeated at York again.
My only regret is that we didn't get a chance to visit a second day during the week. Should there be a remote chance of Ascot coming to York in 2006, we will be first in the queue for tickets. Finally, to the member of staff called Norman, thanks for praising my rig-out, you made me feel a million dollars in my ever-so-cheap outfit bought from Wallis in York.
