LEADERS Poppleton maintain their position in Tyke Petroleum Men's Tennis League division one with an 8-1 sets victory by 64-44 over Strensall.
Six games ahead after two rubbers, Poppleton added 14 before the end.
York's veteran pair, John Linfoot and Pete Sutherland, top scored with 25 in a good team effort to beat Bubwith 69-39 in division two.
Copmanthorpe looked slightly less convincing while beating Poppleton II 57-51. Pop were four up with 36 to play but gave away ten to lose.
Division three leaders Knaresborough beat Starbeck 59-49. Jes Bennet and Justin Crowe scored 24 for the winners and were beaten only by Dave Tripp and Stu Wilkinson, who managed 23.
Wigginton II stay second but could only manage one point from Castlegarth, who were two games up in rubbers one and three, but dropped four in the middle.
Wilberfoss fielded their team of 'seasoned journeymen' to beat Copmanthorpe II in division four by six games. Dave Fenton and Bryn Jones were unbeaten on 23 to keep them level on points with Appleton Roebuck who did not play.
Rufforth moved third with points from Sutton II who had to concede.
Sheriff Hutton won division five's only match convincingly, 87-21 against Knaresborough II. Chris Burnham and Kev Fairclough continued their fruitful season with 33 as did Tony Faith and Ed Marsden.
The Stamford Bridge machine continued its march through division six with an 85-23 demolition of second-placed Heworth.
They gave away one halved set, while the three pairs scored 31, 30 and 24.
Next Generation also scored 85 against Cliffe who have won only one match. Don Lamb and John Major led with 30 in a 12-set win.
Second-placed Wigginton III worked hard to take two division seven points from Alne, whose Dave Pearson and Howard Thompson were the overall top scorers with 25 unbeaten.
