STAFF at the City of York Archive bend over backwards to help history buffs. But can you help them in return?
Joy Cann has discovered this picture and would love to know more. It shows 43 Coney Street displaying a shop sign which reads Agency For Servants.
Kelly's Directory for 1957 gives Mrs Mary Ann Stroud, Servants' Registry Office, as resident of 43 Coney Street.
"I would be very interested in any information regarding this agency - a big plus would be to find out where the records went," says Joy, of the City Archive.
If you can help, please contact Chris Titley at The Evening Press, 76-86 Walmgate, York YO1 9YN, or on (01904) 653051 ext 337. Thank you.
