YORK City Rowing Club notched up several victories at the Metropolitan Regatta at Dorney Lake, Eton, where the World Cup Rowing regatta had been held the previous week.
The men's first eight of Will Todd (bow), George Scott, Andy Wilkinson, Joel Lancaster, Tom Ransley, Dan Beaumont, Dave Heffernan, Charlie Heise and Helena Smalman-Smith (cox), won the Senior 2 eights final by beating University of London in a thrilling push to the line.
The men's Senior 2 Coxless fours crew of Heise (stroke), Wilkinson, Ransley and Heffernan (bow), rowed down Star and Arrow Club in the last 250 metres to win their final by two feet.
The women's first eight of Ruth Easterbrook (stroke), Amanda Baker, Emily Hulley, Rachel Furnell, Becky Harland, Freya Porteous, Esther Williams, Liz Chaytor (bow) and Katy Sparrow (cox) dominated the women's Senior 3 eights.
They won their heat convincingly to obtain a favourable lane draw for their final which they won in style.
The men's Senior 1 eights finished third in their final, beating some notable high-class crews from London RC and Thames Tradesmen over the six-lane 2,000m course.
YCRC's women are currently at the Women's Henley Regatta while the men's squad will be entering two eights in the Marlow Regatta and hope to pre-qualify for the Henley Royal Regatta.
