YORK City's Conference rivals Northwich Victoria are facing relegation to the Conference North after failing to convince league officials that they have any security of tenure over their new ground.
The Victoria Stadium complied with Conference regulations by Monday's deadline but the Cheshire club, who include former City favourite Jon McCarthy among their ranks, were unable to provide evidence of a satisfactory lease on the ground.
Unless a successful appeal is made to the FA, Northwich's place in next season's Conference will be given to Forest Green Rovers, who finished third bottom in the final 2004-2005 table.
