AS A lifelong Manchester United supporter and Shareholders United member I found the TKO column comments on the Glazer takeover very upsetting, (Evening Press, Tuesday, May 24).
Shareholders United regard the Glazer family as temporary occupation of Old Trafford. The takeover of an historic Manchester institution by an American corporate raider has been allowed because of lack of paper regulation on who is allowed to own football clubs in this country.
English regulations are far weaker than clubs like Spain or Germany where supporters have a controlling interest to protect the clubs.
The Glazer takeover now threatens the very fabric of English football.
