SINCE my critical letter of last week there have been a few comments for and against my remarks about former Lord Mayor Janet Looker's mode of dress aboard HMS York.
I have no intention of prolonging the agony except to say I could find no fault with the picture shown in the Press and that I think it was suitable for the occasion. That particular photograph was taken last year on the top deck of the dirty ramparts of York Minster and, no doubt, a hard hat was necessary as was the casual attire.
On the immaculate decks of HMS York it was a different matter.
I hope this is sufficient explanation to put an end to the unfortunate incident.
