THEY may not look a lot like thoroughbreds. But these hats at a North Yorkshire charity shop are shifting as quickly as anything on show at Royal Ascot at York later this month.
Staff at the Alne Hall Charity Shop, in Long Street, Easingwold, decided to put together a special window display - complete with a start and finish line, with the hats representing horses - to celebrate the five-day festival of horse racing, society and fashion.
But anyone who wants to take a peek at the collection of hats, binoculars and picnic sets at the shop, which supports the Leonard Cheshire Foundation, had better hurry up - because the items are all selling out!
Manager Robina Copson said: "There have been some sideswipes at Royal Ascot and we wanted to support the event so Daphne Thompson, one of our volunteers, created an Ascot window.
"The hats represent the horses and we have a start and finishing line. Everything is for sale and it is proving to be one of our most popular windows.
"People will have to see it quickly, we think all the hats will have gone by the middle of the week."
