IN response to your report 'Pub's late licence bid anger' (May 18), I believe many of the complaints are from people who oppose any change without due consideration, simply for a reason to moan.
Gillygate is on the route home for a great number of after a night's socialising. That is why the successful Kings Pizza is open until 3am, seven days a week.
Any complaints aimed at Certificate 18 for creating all the noise on Gillygate is absurd. We cater for many different musical tastes and have people from all walks of life. Some may find the dress sense of some customers offensive but I consider this attitude shallow and intolerant.
As for trouble we have none and are one of the few bars in York that feel no need to employ bouncers at the weekend, the atmosphere here is really good.
Everyone who comes basis values the place and does leave quickly and quietly to keep its good name. It is also these people who ask that Certificate 18 be kept open later as a venue to escape from dance music, cheesy discos and trouble which York's centre offers at the weekend.

Owner and Licensee,
