IT is hard to believe City of York Council has approved the absurd scheme to build 700 homes in Fulford (May 27). Is nothing sacred in this city any more?
How can we justify building houses on our ancient monuments? A housing estate on the site of the Battle of Fulford - what next?
I imagine Persimmon Homes will have an eye on York Minster because it surely has the potential for conversion to flats. And what about Clifford's Tower, why not turn it into shops?
I urge the council to take a look at the A19 in Fulford at rush hour which is usually at a standstill, with a tailback of traffic that can stretch ten miles.
Is adding another 700 homes directly on to this route sensible?
No, it is not.
The council is allowing the rape of our city and the residents of York are furious.
