Fonthill Road, narrowly beaten at York earlier this month, can hit the jackpot in Scotland tomorrow.
The £60,000 VC Bet Scottish Sprint Cup, the richest race of the year at Musselburgh, is the target for Richard Fahey's gelding, whose long journey north from Malton promises to be richly rewarded.
A winner at Beverley on his seasonal reappearance, Fonthill Road has since suffered two luckless defeats.
Short of room at a crucial stage before flashing home in second place behind Fire Up The Band at Chester, he experienced a similar scenario when beaten by Soldier's Tale on Knavesmire on his latest start.
A much-improved horse last season, when his wins included a York win in August, Fonthill Road has developed into a high-class handicapper.
Given the rub of the green, he can clinch this valuable prize, probably at the main expense of Jim Goldie's River Falcon, a fluent winner at York two weeks ago and the mount of Kieren Fallon.
At Doncaster, Tim Easterby can make his presence felt with Flighty Fellow in the £20,000 Merlin Land Rover Handicap over seven furlongs.
The gelding made an encouraging start to the season when fourth to Ballast in the Thirsk Hunt Cup. The benefit of that race, plus tomorrow's better ground, should see him in an even better light.
At Goodwood, Boogie Street is napped to start his season with a bang by winning the Empire Property Group Stakes over five furlongs.
A top-notch sprinter on his day, Richard Hannon's colt won last year's renewal of this race (staged at Kempton) before showing his mettle throughout the season, which included a cracking effort in defeat from a poor draw in the King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Richard Hughes, who has a high opinion of Boogie Street, has the task of steering the speedster to victory.
