ACOMB'S Andy Tute led the charge as the York and District Senior Cricket League extracted full revenge on their East Yorkshire Alliance counterparts.

EYA had beaten York in last year's semi-final of the Yorkshire Inter-League Cricket Competition but there was never any question of a repeat when Tute got to work this time round.

He blasted 12 fours and two sixes in a 65-ball innings which earned him 82 runs to set up a seven-wicket victory.

Invited to bat first, Alliance found runs hard to come by against some tight bowling by Beverley's Barry Sayer, playing on his home ground , and Hornsea's Richard Medforth.

EYA were only able to reach 14-1 off the opening ten over before M Watkin 27 and D Hudson 33 added 49 runs. Medforth bowled Watkin at 56 and Tute was introduced into the attack to claim 3-52.

G Fewster's 40 helped lift Alliance's total to 164-7.

York side lost an early wicket when skipper Martin Piercy was deceived by a slower delivery from M Read and fell for five.

Nick Hadfield (Woodhouse Grange) and Tute then took control as they added 56 in 40 minutes until Hadfield was caught off Fewster for 22. Beverley's Jamie Mitchell and Tute put on 75 before Tute holed out after seeming certain to reach three figures.

His dismissal for 82 had little effect on the outcome as Mitchell moved to 46no and victory was attained with more than ten overs to spare.
