THREE late chub taken fishing caster a foot deep on peg 24 were enough to secure Jason Suter (York Tackle) the points he needed to secure the York Tackle-sponsored Spring League.
The final round fished at Elvington Lake saw many contestants struggle to locate silver fish and it was left to odd better quality fish to dominate the prize list.
Andy Wallis (York Tackle) led the way from peg ten where he alternated caster-fished shallow and chopped worm at depth for six bream, a tench and a large eel scaling 17lb 5oz.
Richard Plummer (York Tackle) also got among the specimens netting a fine 6lb tench plus two smaller samples and a big crucian on pole and caster for 11lb 14oz from the same bank as the winner.

Sport was much improved for this week's 33-peg York open match on Marley Lake at the Laybourne Lakes complex, Hessay.
Odd big carp made a big difference to the final result and a major beneficiary was winner Dave Hollingworth (York). Drawn on peg 40 on the island he alternated pellet and paste at 12 and 8 metres for a mixed net of small carp and tench boosted to a winning 31lb 6oz by a monster mirror of 15lb that took a liking to his paste.
Runner-up Mick Ogden (Bradford) also included a double figure fish in his net of 22lb 1oz taken on pole and pellet from peg 50.
Others: Mick Wood (York) 20-6-0, Keith Mitchell (Selby) 19-8-0, Chris Drake (Bradford) 19-4-0 and Ray Kaye (Bradford) 18-3-0.
Spectrum Autos angler Mick Addinall looks to have taken a decisive lead in the 13-match Bob-Co Tackle backed series after recording yet another victory at Carpvale.
Drawn on Cyprio pool peg 18 he floated his pole out to the island at 18 metres where the carp were lurking under the surface. Feeding floating pellets and offering banded bread on the hook he hauled out 31 carp to 4lb for 91lb 2oz.
Dave Armitage (Hirst Tackle) was in the prolific corner peg four on the same lake and targeted the snags at 14 metres with floating bread and pellets fished a foot deep for his all carp bag of fish to 8lb scaling 71lb 12oz
Others: Tony Hewson (Leeds Angling Centre) 57-12-0, Bernard Guy (East End Park) 50-8-0, Roy Worsnop (Bob-Co) 35-8-0 and Dave Higgins (Harrogate) 34-12-0.
Teenage sensation Ben Fisk (JT Rodgers) blitzed the opposition in Saturday's 52-peg Outwood Angling Centre match at the Willows.
The 16-year old from Leeds finished over 30lb clear of the chasing pack with an awesome net of 116lb 2oz from peg 35 on Goldrush.
Fishing pellet at 16 metres to an island with overhanging willows he enjoyed non-stop action with carp to 3lb. Well adrift was Dave Pollitt (Hirst Tackle) who fished close in with cat meat on the next peg for 73lb 6oz of carp to 6lb
Others: Graham Skirrey (Hawkland AC) 63-14-0, Alistair Wilks (Willows) 55-4-0, Steve Raper (Hirst Tackle) 53-10-0 and Bernard Guy (East End Park) 52-0-0.
The Mid-week open at the Willows saw Barbara Jeffries from Leeds recorded an easy win in the 39-pegger from Goldrush 33.
Making full use of the vacant peg 32 she fished down the margins into the spare swim with pellet and meat for 62lb of carp to 6lb
Andy Gallant (Bob-Co) took second place from peg 59 on the same lake with a cat meat tempted catch of carp to 6lb taken at 12 metres towards the island.
Others: Ian Walker (Boston Spa) 43-8-0 and Graham Boardley (Bob-Co) 38-8-0.
