YORK Acorn ARLC Under-14s have turned their fortunes around to enjoy a wonderful season.
The team lost their first game of the season but remained unbeaten since then to win the Yorkshire Junior League division three title and also lift the York and District U14s Cup earlier in the campaign, beating New Earswick All Blacks, who are a division two side, in the final.
All Blacks had thrashed them 74-4 just 18 months ago, and Steve Bromwich, joint-coach alongside Sean Meek, reckoned the improvement in his Acorn team was fantastic.
"They've turned things round really well and proved they're a cracking set of players," said Bromwich, who also coaches the North Yorkshire Service Area U14s side.
Acorn U14s were presented with their trophies at the league's and club section's presentation nights this week.
