TWO of the world's favourite "flying" celebrities have come together under the roof of the National Railway Museum.
Flying Scotsman has been joined by a different type of light-footed transport - the car star from the 1968 film Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
The distinctive flying car Gen 11, with its red and yellow wings, has been brought into the Leeman Road attraction to mark the first anniversary of the locomotive's arrival.
The vehicle, which was modelled on the cars of the flamboyant 1920s racing driving Count Louis Zborowski, will be on display during Flying Scotsman Week from Saturday until Sunday, June 5.
Paul Bisson, of the NRM, said: "We are thrilled to be celebrating these fantastic engineering creations during Flying Scotsman Week.
"There'll be plenty of activities for all the family and, of course, the presence of another engineering legend, our special guest Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, will make the event even more enjoyable."
Flying Scotsman will also be hauling twice-daily Ride The Legend services between York and Scarborough from Tuesday, May 31, to Thursday, June 2.
The NRM is open every day from 10am. Further information on Flying Scotsman is available by phoning 0870 421 4472.
