YORK City Knights' record books were being re-written once again after the club attracted the largest-ever crowd to Huntington Stadium since the club's formation.
A family fun day coupled with a 'bring a friend for free' promotion saw the crowd reach 3,224 for the nail-biting 17-16 win over Hunslet Hawks.
And Knights head coach Mick Cook once again hailed the support.
He said: "It's great to see it so full. I'm happy with the carnival atmosphere here. It's not something we can do every week but it's great for the club and it's great for us"
The previous best of 3,105 had been set in the Knights' first competitive match against Hull KR in the Arriva Trains Cup in January 2003.
The friendly against Leeds Rhinos on January 3 this year drew in 3,509, but that was at Bootham Crescent, while the all-time York record at Huntington of 4,799 was set in a league match against Halifax in 1990 when the stadium was still called Ryedale Stadium.
