SUPERMARKET pricing policies have been criticised by a parliamentary hopeful in the Vale of York.
Liberal Democrat Jeremy Wilcock used Easingwold market to voice his demands for fairer prices for farmers and growers. He is petitioning for supermarket pricing policies to be regulated and for greater support for farmers' markets and organic produce. He said stallholders, shoppers and local butchers backed his policy.
Mr Wilcock, who now plans to take his campaign to Bedale and Thirsk markets, said: "I have no idea what political affiliation they had, but everyone was very supportive and many said it was about time somebody took the lead. "
