I HAVE read various articles about City of York Council's ideas on recycling of garden waste, which to my mind is a very good idea.
But I still have doubts about whether the council is really serious.
My reason for this is that its own grass cutters that do the cutting in most areas of York do not use grass collection boxes on their mowers and do not clean up the cuttings.
These are left to blow, or get thrown about by children playing with them, or left to be washed down the gutters then the drains start to smell as they do along Alcuin Avenue when it gets warm.
City of York Council should get its own house in order and recycle its own grass cuttings before cutting down on refuse collections for residents.
