I CAN reassure Mr Goodwin (Letters, May 17) that the temporary traffic lights at the junction of Knavesmire Road and The Mount were tested during the race meeting.
The aim was to ensure the technical equipment worked correctly, not to assess the impact of the lights on traffic movements.
The tests were so successful that, after the lights were tested on the morning of May 11, they were turned off. A further test was carried out at around 10pm to double check the results.
