Heworth ARLC product Danny Allan has taken another big step on the road to rugby league stardom.
The 16-year-old Archbishop Holgate's School pupil has signed a two-year deal with Super League and World Club champions Leeds Rhinos.
Allan began playing rugby aged five and has played for Heworth since then, apart from a spell at New Earswick All Blacks last season, and this year he made his way through regional trials to be picked for England Schoolboys Under-16s, following on from his U15s caps last year.
A Bradford Bulls fan as a youngster, he has been on a scholarship scheme at Castleford Tigers, while there was also interest from Hull FC and local club York City Knights, but he instead chose to sign for Leeds.
Allan, primarily a centre, is currently studying for upcoming GCSE exams and is set to continue his studies via the Rhinos on a sports studies course.
