THE York Branch of the Parachute Regimental Association had a street collection on Saturday, May 7 for its parent organisation and raised £2,570.31.
My colleagues and I are grateful to the residents and visitors who contributed so generously on this VE Day 60th anniversary weekend.
We collect particularly for those who survived the airborne assaults of the Second World War, mainly conscripts who did not receive military pensions who are now old, and many infirm and in need of a little help. We do our best and you have helped us greatly.
Donald Marshall,
Chairman,
Ashbourne Way,
York.
