THIS is for the attention of the driver of a silver/grey S-registered Rover 600 who overtook me on the outer ring road at approximately 12.30pm, on Sunday, May 15.
That is, of course, providing the driver can read. His total ignorance of the Highway Code - particularly the speed limit on this stretch of road - makes me wonder.
What was it Mr Road Racer? Did the idea of a little old lady in a little Nissan Micra, sticking to the rules of the road, annoy you? So much so you had to whip past her, missing her wing mirror by such a small margin as to make her swerve away from the danger? But not by too much, because little and old I may be but I still have enough reaction time to cope with idiots such as you.
Had you not been too absorbed in your own macho ego when our cars reached the roundabout at the Esso garage, you might have checked your mirror to find your irresponsible and dangerous driving had put you one car ahead of the car in front of me.
But I am grateful that, as I turned left down Boroughbridge Road, you headed towards Rufforth. For that I thank you, and commiserate with any other driver who dared to make you feel inadequate.
Mrs F Rourke,
Little Meadows, Haxby, York.
