THE final piece of silverware available to York clubs this year goes up for grabs on Saturday when New Earswick All Blacks and York Acorn meet in the York Accident Cup final.
Both clubs have enjoyed superb seasons, with All Blacks winning Pennine League division two and enjoying a memorable run in the National Cup.
Acorn were promoted to National Conference division one while their 'A' team won Pennine League division four.
That 'A' team will represent the Blue and Golds in Saturday's final having got them there, which disappointed All Blacks joint-coach Simon Baynes, who would have preferred a crack at their first team.
But he added: "We won't take anything for granted as their 'A' team are very good as well."
All Blacks will be without Jo Jo Hnesh (shoulder), but Baynes added: "Everyone trained well and hopefully, we'll finish the season on a high."
The competition is now run every two years, with the York and District Cup in the intervening seasons. The final is at Acorn's Thanet Road, ko 2.30pm.
The officials will all come from the York referees' society. The man in the middle is Shane Daniel, taking his first open age York final, while his touch judges are Craig Swanson and Stuart Evans. Reserve referee is Gareth Evans and interchanges ref is Lee Archer.
