Matthew Kilgallon may have to move if he wants regular first-team football next season.
The York-born defender nicknamed 'Killa' joins up with the England Under-20 squad for the Toulon Tournament in France next month but his place in the Leeds United squad is less certain.
Kevin Blackwell has made it clear he wants to go with experience next season, especially at the back and has already said he is in the market for another central defender.
With Paul Butler and Clarke Carlisle already in place, and with Blackwell apparently looking to switch Sean Gregan to the back four when necessary, it looks increasingly likely that Kilgallon will be fifth in line.
While Blackwell would like to keep the likes of Kilgallon, Frazer Richardson and Aaron Lennon at the club, they may be sacrificed to raise cash for his new signings.
Blackwell said: "Ideally you want to bring your own youngsters into the team but right now our priority is to get back into the Premiership.
"Ideally you want one or two youngsters in the team but we've had games when there have been four or five and that's too much.
"We had 12 games on the trot last season when one of the youngsters was involved in every goal that went against us."
And he admitted some young players might have to be sacrificed for a short-term objective, adding: "Hopefully we can keep one or two of the youngsters but it is down to finances."
